MIX TAPES with Eric Stangeland and Mark Moots

Meet Mix Tapes Podcast:
YOUR Heavy Metal & Hard Rock Hosts

ERIC STANGELAND

Eric Stangeland grew up in New Jersey with Randy Rhoads on the stereo and a guitar in his hands. That combination tells you everything.

A working guitarist with bands including Convicted Innocence and Dirt Communion and multiple solo records behind him, Eric doesn't just know this music — he's lived inside it. His background in guitar, tone, and gear means he can talk shop with the players who built the genre and actually keep up.

As a host, Eric brings something rare: patience with purpose. He's not chasing the soundbite or the hot take. He's after the real conversation — the one that happens when you slow down, ask the right question, and actually listen to the answer.

Iron Maiden. Black Sabbath. Years of teaching. Years of playing. It all adds up to a voice that knows when to dig in and when to get out of the way.

with the players who made it.

MARK MOOTS

Mark Moots has been obsessing over records since before it was cool to obsess over records. He's not about to stop now.

His taste runs from Queensrÿche and King's X to grindcore and black metal, with deep stops everywhere in between. His bands have done the work too: December was signed to Earache Records, hit Headbangers Ball, and toured hard. The Swamp Donkey and now Weight of the Tide, both on UnderGroove Records, kept the streak going.

Before any of that, he was behind the counter at a record store — the original algorithm. The kind of guy who could clock your taste in thirty seconds and hand you something that would change your week, and maybe your life.

That's who shows up on Mix Tapes. Someone who has been on stage, in the van, and in the stacks. Someone who has strong opinions about your favorite band and is happy to tell you exactly why.
